Content License
You own what you write. This document sets out the narrow permission we need in order to store it, lay it out, and hand it back — and the point at which that permission ends.
01What counts as your content
Everything you type into a page, every figure, every label, the cut list and the reasons on it, any photograph you upload, and the finished pages you export.
02Ownership
You keep every right you had in your content. Nothing here transfers ownership of it to us, and we make no claim over the pages you produce.
03The licence you give us
You grant IHS LOTHIAN LIMITED a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to do the following, and only the following:
- Store your content and transmit it between your browser and our systems.
- Process it so that the service can propose a structure and a cut list.
- Produce a layout base and render your content onto it.
- Generate the export files you ask for and hold them so you can download them again.
- Keep a copy for up to 30 days after deletion, in routine backup, for recovery and abuse investigation.
The licence exists so the software can run. It carries no right to publish your content, show it to anybody else, use it in marketing, or put it in front of another customer.
04Not for training
Your content is not used to train models, ours or any third party’s. The text of a structural request is sent to a model provider under terms that forbid training on it, and nothing else about your page goes anywhere near a training set.
We do use aggregate signals that carry no content of yours — error rates, how long a layout took, how often a page overflowed. Those tell us whether the software works. They say nothing about your business.
05When the licence ends
The licence over a piece of content ends when you delete it, subject to the 30-day backup tail and to anything we are legally required to keep, such as a billing record. Closing your account ends the licence over everything in it on the same basis.
06Finished pages
A page you produce is yours to use, send, print and publish, subject to the Acceptable Use Policy and to anyone else’s rights in the material you put on it.
- We do not warrant that a layout base is original or that it does not resemble another. It is a geometric arrangement of blocks, and there are only so many.
- We claim no rights over your finished page and we do not need to be credited.
- The line at the foot of every export — “Prepared by the company it describes. Not an offer, not investment advice, and not verified by us.” — must stay on the page.
07What you promise us
- That you own your content, or have permission to use it.
- That it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or publicity rights.
- That anyone identifiable in a photograph you upload has agreed to it.
- That the facts and figures on your page are true, and that you can evidence them if asked.
If a third party makes a claim against us because one of those was not true, you agree to cover the cost of dealing with it.
08Removal
Content that breaches the Acceptable Use Policy may be removed without notice, and we will tell you why. If you think a removal was wrong, write to support@ihslothianprojects.com and a person will look at it again.
If you believe something on this service infringes your rights, send the details to support@ihslothianprojects.com: what the material is, where it is, what right you hold, and how to reach you. We act on properly made notices.
